Assisted living facility administrators must complete 12 hours of continuing education in topics related to assisted living every two years as provided under Section 429.52, F.S.

This six-course package was created to meet the COMAR requirement for Adult Medical Day Care staff.

Assisted Living Managers at facilities with five or more beds must complete 20 hours of continuing education every two years. This package allows the flexibility of picking your own topics while you increase you knowledge and skills.

As per COMAR regulation 10.07.14.19 B (6): “Other staff” must receive annual training in fire and life safety, infection control, basic food safety, and emergency disaster plans. In addition, as per COMAR regulation 10.07.14.19 G (4): ongoing training in cognitive impairment and mental health shall be provided annual consisting of, at a minimum: two hours for employees whose job duties involve the provision of personal care services.

As per COMAR regulation 10.07.14.19 B (5): “Other staff” must receive initial and annual training in fire and life safety, infection control, basic food safety, emergency disaster plans. In addition, as per COMAR regulation 10.07.14.19 B (7): "Other staff" must have training or exerpeince in psychosocial needs of the elderly, resident assessment process, service plans, and resident’s rights. Lastly, as per COMAR regulation 10.07.14.19 H (1): when job duties involve the provision of personal care services as described in Regulation .30E, employees shall receive a minimum of six hours of training on cognitive impairment, mental illness, and behavioral health within the first 120 days of employment. Because this training shall be designed to meet the specific needs of the program’s population as determined by the assisted living manager, we provide the flexibility of selecting the five courses that best meet your needs.

As per Maryland COMAR regulation 10.07.14.19, when job duties involve the provision of personal care services, employees shall receive a minimum of five hours of training on cognitive impairment and mental illness within their first 90 days of employment.
